In this June 2019 collaboration with artist and Production Designer Erin Plew, the Showroom was transformed into a cozily interactive 90's era living room. The room was brought to life by audio of a real-life answering machine recording, telling a tale of a family dealing with grief that is both touching and, well, unusual to say the least.

The Showroom walls were filled with found paintings from March 16, 2019, through April's first Saturday Art Crawl. The Commission to Rescue Abandoned Paintings plucks the discarded works of amateur and unknown artists from the brink of oblivion and gives them another chance to be enjoyed, purchased by collectors, or re-primed and sold to artists as affordable, ecologically friendly substrates for new artworks.
The Commission reduces the prices on these paintings over the course of the exhbition. When a painting fails to sell at a minimum price of $5-$10, it is re-primed and moved to a section of the showroom dedicated to reusable canvas. We are grateful to art consultant Rachel Bubis for sitting down with us and lending her insight on several exciting artworks! |
